Girish Mudigere: Excellent idea sir…..Akshata and Praveen avaru doing blood donors communications too……..Few more groups should come together and take your help
Chandrakant Acharya: In that I will add on the etiquette of posting blood requirements and how not to miss key details!!! Will be useful for general public too!!!
Girish Mudigere: Awesome topic for public…….we shall request Akshata or anyone else to coordinate please
Linnet D Silva: RIGHT TO EDUCATION is every child’s need. Equal opportunity whether rich or poor, High caste or low etc. Elected reps at all levels, Government, department of education is direct duty bearers. Of course All adults have to share this. Develop schools in particular!!
Girish Mudigere: Right to Education and Equal Opportunities are two different topics and two different end results ….it appears…… Right to Education already seems in place as admissions cannot be deneyed to any student in government schools .. …….but we need to improve quality. Equal Education and Equal opportunities are again two different topics. Equal education is same education for all students in a classroom is unfair…….because some take more time to learn
Kollegala Sharma: @Girish. Equal education is not equal teaching. It is providing a platform for different competencies to get same level of learning. This obviously is the next stage of RTE.
Girish Mudigere: Same classroom does it provide equal education Sir?
Kollegala Sharma: No. Not right now. But DSs dream classroom might.
Girish Mudigere: Sir….Equal Education/ Classroom/School and equal Teaching are different topics Alva
Kollegala Sharma: True. I am talking of equal education / learning in the same classroom.
Girish Mudigere: Linnet madam rised the issue…..I am trying to understand differences….Somehow many many consider all above are same……..which is not true
Lets focus on providing good government schools by improving (even if we fail)…..Definitely we shall talk on Right to Education which needs improvement through Government schools ……Equal opportunity is not our goal at least till government schools improve
Guru Poornima: The right to education is guaranteed legally for all without any discrimination
Girish Mudigere: 100% agreed…….lets focus on improving government schools
Guru Poornima: Equal Education is the, basis of irrespective of race, color, gender, or national origin
We focus on equal education right? but it made me thoughtful
Girish Mudigere: My submission is……lets not get into words which are not understandable…..or confusing words. Lets make it simple. Lets improve Government Schools.
Linnet D Silva: My only concern is “we” don’t consider as assets. We spend so much on borders to safeguard Indian border, then why we can’t give same importance to human resource development in the same mode. Now back to wasting human resource which is so important for all other development. Its getting wasted in huge quantity as in karnataka alone it has 47 thousand schools above 3 lakh teachers and the children’s quality we know. No middle class or upper will take risk in sending their children there!!!
Girish Mudigere: Let us try as ordinary persons to improve government schools
Geetha: Pls Dont tell that teachers are not working 8 hours per day,we teachers doing school works at home also, not only in working hours,Saturday Sunday, national festivals etc
Girish Mudigere: Geeta mam please wait…..
Kollegala Sharma: One complaint by teachers is that the department demands various data compiling of which takes away a lot of their time. Though I sympathise with them, the data are necessary for delivery of various welfare measures. Girish, if technology can solve their problem of juggling data collected once for various kinds of reports, a lot of burden will be off teachers back.
We should liik at this too. What data are collected? What reports are sought? Can data be collected once? Are schools using such technology? If so, can teachers be trained to use it best? If not, can a solution be provided? Empowering them to manage time will sure help students.
Girish Mudigere: Sharma Sir…..completely agree with your points and solutions …….not clear whether Guru sir and Linnet mam meant above or not
Yogish: What kind of data has to be collected by teachers and why ?.
Kollegala Sharma: Economic, social, attendance, dropouts, academic and so on. Usually schools are called to provide data at short notices. Teachers start afresh collecting or collating data every time there is a request. They do not know what would be asked and when. One solution is to look at common reports required and try to collect required data beforehand. Tech will help in organizing, collating and reporting data collected.
Geetha: From 2 years some of the records done by using technology,I mean computers, but in school v don’t have ,only one is meant for office that v can’t use,am travelling about 70 +70 km daily,in school I Dont have time to complete all my records,do I have to carry to home, am using traveling time to prepare drill work to my students, if I get seat properly…: Sir we r facing many more problems…records….for pass and also records for failure also….
Chandrakant Acharya: How can we be of help geetha mam in such scenarios??? Like providing useful software tools for data mining??? etc
Yogish: I think govt or some NGO should provide platform and software to enter the data. Once the database is created only update is required every year. I guess someone in this group already provided this info. School should have at least one computer for teachers to enter data with proper software. Every year the data has to be updated, no need to enter everything again from scratch. Govt is not doing their part I guess.
Kollegala Sharma: Chandrakanth. First we need to help them organize their data. Teachers need help to understand what kind of info they should be collecting. Yes, a software to organize and store data including students performance is required. It has to be compatible with the one used by the department. If not more trouble for teachers. I would look for a tablet based app ti help tjem in this rather than a PC. Portable yet powerful. (Helps teachers traveling everyday to work)
Geetha: S sir I made lesson plan digital, and name list etc,but example, after each test,or formative assessment we have to manually write, for each section _60 to 70 students. Dept is asking daily one or the other…. : Wherever we go,the information we have to give… U believe or not night 9 pm or 10 also sometimes data asked through sms, coastwise children data, dropouts with caste wise, etc
Yogish: How can they expect teachers to give the grease data every without giving required tools or software or training to teachers ?. Also it is not fair to ask data as and when required without proper planning. Govt should fix particular date to ask these data, may be once in a year.
Kollegala Sharma: Yes. Training is required. Also many teachers like Geeta maam, need to carry data with them and extract / mine only necessary data.
Yogish: It makes no sense to ask the data everyday. I feel it’s not necessary for the dept to collect Dropout info or school children assessment etc on daily basis. Once in a 6 months or once in a year should be enough. Govt schools and dept is not planning properly I guess. How do you give data by SMS?. Do you get SMS and then send the required data by email ?
Kollegala Sharma: No. Request is by sms. Data hard copy next day
Geetha: But I didn’t loose my interest, work till 12 to 1o clock in the nightt, mrng again get up at 4.30 and ready to go school at 6.30,reaching 1.30 hours before to school time
Yogish: OMG, still hard copy?. Why can’t they accept soft copy by email ?
Geetha: Hard copy + soft copy by mail or some data by CD…
Yogish: Please let me know the sample copy of the data that dept is asking or the sample of the data that you prepared madam ?. Do you use XL create data? Madam, Do you have internet at school?
Let’s understand our teachers problem and try to find solution
Kollegala Sharma: Madam send me a list of data requested last year, if possible monthwise. Let us compare across districts and see if there is any pattern. Then it would be easy to be prepare with one complete data set and cull out reports from them.
Yogish: Please send the 1 or 2 copies of data (word or XL or any format) to my email id email@example.com I will take a look. If required we can take some help from others to find solutions to these issues. With 10 mins of update on existing data your work should be done. I think teaches has to concentrate mainly to help students, not to help govt dept
Gururaj Paramesha: Teachers work but more on non academics
HM Sunitha: Once queries decided filtering data will be eady
Yogish: Yes good idea to compare the data pattern to bring an uniform database to all the schools. Someone outside the govt has to start if govt is not standardizing these patterns.
Kollegala Sharma: Yes. Thanks for listening. A large number of teachers will be happy.
Chaya Chandra Acharya: Sorry for joining late. Not only teachers even HM ‘s too busy in correcting previous years funds utilization , giving new admission data, drop out data, and never ending CCE. Actually for CCE a nice software can be developed which is available in all KV ‘s also. The state govt won’t take any email data as authenticated
Yogish: Let’s take this as project and set some time line to complete once we get these data pattern from few schools. We have to standardize the data and and it should be uniform to all the school in Karnataka state board.
Chaya Chandra Acharya: if any KV(Kendriya Vidyalaya) teacher in group can really help a lot. KV also maintains lot of record which is again done by teachers only
Yogish: I am sure we can move forward this request with some external help if you help me to get correct data (at least from few school districts).
Siddappa Malavalli: Dear friends, my friend wanted to join his son in Mysore convent for 5th standard, presently the boy studying in Government school in Talagavadi in Malavalli taluk of Mandya district , he wanted to shift the family to Mysore for lonely son higher primary education really sad….he doesn’t know actually what is my motto in joining this dedicated group, he requesting me to guide him, how to convenience him….???
Kollegala Sharma: Teachers in the group. Please send to Yogish a list of all reports sent from your schools last year. Please provide report name, what are the different info (name, address, age, ration purchased, opened bank account etc. just item names) the report contains.

Sri Harsha: Looking at the data you are talking about, these could simply be updated with basic xml programs
Chaya Chandra Acharya: Kendriya vidyalaya school run by central govt. They r the who started CCE concept which is followed by all govt school. I have lot if friends but I do not think they can share their software with us
PKK Sri Harsha: Software would be too tech savvy..I am not an xml expert..but I have used many which could give updated data within minutes
Yogish: I am not a programmer, but we can take some help from programmers to do this task. Python is very helpful for data handling
