Girish Mudigere: Lets focus at needs of our Government Schools. Lets find solutions and implement, Kindly avoid forwarded posts, videos, stories – Thanks all…

Yogish : I am not happy with our logo. Here are 10 sample design to choose to replace our logo before it is too late. These 10 designs auto generated in web site and is related to schools or education.

These are much better. I like the last one (8th)

Girish Mudigere: Rich Moral Education to Live Let Live?

Sri Harsha: Sir, I would say excellence for everyone sounds good..since we are trying to help develop the infrastructure and thus contribute for education instead of having to do with education itself directly. If we bring in education in our tag line, gives a picture that we are working for the eduction itself. Which we are not.. Directly

Yogish: Yes, sometime we may work to plant trees or other social services

Guru Poornima: ಉತ್ಕೃಷ್ಟ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯೆಡೆಗೆ..

Yogish: I too like Kannada, but little difficult to implement. Many online tool don’t support non English characters

Sri Harsha: A step towards excellence works too..

Sri Harsha: And I think we should have an English and a Kannada version too if possible and everyone agrees

Kollegala Sharma: Since the name has Schools, education and other words depicting education are only redundant. Hence, the tag line can be kept as Excellence for Everyone. It goes with our motto that we are talking of schools and all schools and of schools for everyone. Yogish. Very good job. I would go with the first one of the one pasted here.

Sri Harsha: It blends in to the name itself. “Develop schools, for those in need”

Yogish: If required we can bring out kannada version of website after few months. User should be able to select kannada Hindi or English version. You mean Declvelop School in English and tag line in kannada ?. Or two separate logo’s ?

Guru Poornima: Same tagline in the same logo

Kollegala Sharma: Same logo with English title and tag line for English website and Kannada title and tag line for Kannada web site. So on for Hindi and other language pages. Should not be difficult if the fonts are compatible. Develop schools can not be translated as it is a proper name. But tag line can be translated. Here it is: ಡೆವಲಪ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ಸ್, ಸರ್ವರಿಗೂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆ or ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಉತ್ಕೃಷ್ಟತೆ (chosen because both have alliteration and rhyme together.) ಎಲ್ಲರ ಏಳಿಗೆಯ ಏಣಿ is my personal choice for the tagline.

Guru Poornima: ಸಹಜ ಸುಂದರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ

Kollegala Sharma: ಸಹಜ.ಸುಂದರ.ಶಾಲೆ

Yogish: How about ಸರ್ವತೋಮುಖ ಅಭಿವ್ರದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ or ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಭಿವ್ರದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ Yes I agree. Let’s not waste our time too much on tag line or logo. U can send me your input directly to me. Then I will discuss with Girish depending upon proposal to finalize. Thank you in advance for your help

Kollegala Sharma: Child marriage, superstition are other issues we found in HD Kote affecting school attendance. And System defects – beauracracy, attitude

Renni D’souza: This is one of the important issue in some of places in karnataka related to Girl child education

Gururaj Paramesha: Dear friends please read todays Vijayavani paper, AAP does excellent job in Delhi

ಅನಿಲ್ ಕುಮಾರ್: Hmm

Shreelakshmi: Hai, I am Sreelakshmi From Minchu Ideas We can arrange for 2 scribes .. If you need ,,

Yogish: Watching a Malayalam movie about endosulfan victims. This was India govt crime against humanity for 25 years. Even though so many tragedy and so many deaths, India govt kept on arguing (including in international community) that there is no evidence. Very good movie captured with real victims, real scenario from the beginning to end of the movie. Victims of 50 years old lady or 15 years old boy are looks like 3 years child and suffering. Very tragic. It’s common sense that any pesticide which will kill insects definitely harmful to human beings directly or indirectly. Please grow organic and stop using chemicals. https://youtu.be/RhnhEgTLvlw My apologies for the off topic

Yogish: Now all the video lessons are added in our website from grade 8 to grade 12 for all the subjects. Now it is teachers turn to use these videos in your classes. Thank you Nagesh and all ! Next plan is to complete uploading SSLC question papers which is half done so far.

Yogish: The satellite imagery showed that in 2014, Bengaluru, which currently has a population of over 95 lakh, had just 14,78,500 trees. So Bangalore’s tree count is less than 1 tree per person. Once we used to call garden city ! 1 tree for 6, which is unbelievable !

Kollegala Sharma: So there are no trees even for Appiko movement!

Srinagesh: Ramakrishna Hegde initiated urban afforestation scheme in 1983. Tree planting was done extensively especially in Bengaluru. Then came the deforestation in the garb of flyover road widening etc

Kollegala Sharma: At CFTRI we initiated a programme of planting trees by people on their retirement. Every year at least 20 trees are being planted. Instead of party this is what we are doung now. That does not make it a forced activity, but a volunteer, feel good activity. If 10th standard students plant a tree in the beginning of the year and say it is a gift for their juniors that would be a good idea.

Harsha Kadur:

Kalgudi Naveen:

Lokesh Alambuda: ಪ್ರತೀ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲೂ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾಗ ಮೀಸಲಿಡಲಾಗಿದೆ

Kollegala Sharma: Teachers in the group can comment on feasibility. The challenges I see are:

1. Space – Instead of one tree per student, one per group or per batch can address this issue

2. Groups help in division of labour and proper caring of trees/saplings

3. If space n funds are available (each school is supposed to have an environmental club) gardening can be started and taught.

Girish Mudigere: Best is making NGOs work with schools etc., We connect them, and monitor

Yogish: Let’s take this as our top priority in every school before thinking about facilities like building for school. Good inputs from everyone.

Gopala Rao: We can ask for 8std joining students. They can look after3 yrs. High school s have eco clubs

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. There must be an occasion. Or start birthday planting under eco club.

C K Gopala Rao: Each eco club gets2500 per year

Kalgudi Naveen: http://www.spoorthivana.org/

Kollegala Sharma: If there are no RPs, VIP functions, this should be enough for the planting programme.

C K Gopala Rao: Why you are spending for RP/VIPS: For that we can use other amount

Kollegala Sharma: I have seen schools spending eco club amount for fruits, garlands and honoraria.

Jayalaxmi Gowda: Corporate can take this responsibility as well. I suggest we talk to corporate CSR’s to take active steps to planting trees

Girish Mudigere: Kids actually working to mild extent is welcome.

we should actually try to utilize their energy to spread the word effectively through their skills

Local people or CSR or NGOs are to be positively engaged to create gardens for schools and local people through teams should try ticreate small forests. Lokesh sir method of bringing awareness and getting end results may yield best results in volumes

Linnet D Silva: I have decided to plant trees in a school as three years we planted saplings and all were destroyed. It’s very hard. I have very negative experience in this regard in Dharwad.I have seen my friend when she sold her house she lifted few trees as the buyer was demolishing to put up a huge construction.

Yogish: Thank you all for your inputs. Let’s make some action plans and execute during this rainy season all over Karnataka including Bangalore

Guru Poornima: June 5th environment day

Jayalaxmi Gowda: My suggestions

1) we talk to corporate CSR’s to take active steps to planting trees

2) teach kids about recycling

3) take the initiative to plant plants on June 5, in some schools through the help of Adhamya..

Jayalaxmi Gowda: No it should be done on the 5th. Everybody can spare a Sunday for volunteering right

Including kids. If it is done on any other day, it looses its purpose.. Nanna bhavane. That is the basic change in mindset we need to make sir. We are okay to loose a school day to plant trees but not willing to loose one day of our lives for a purpose. I can’t wait until June to plant.. Thinking of gardening and planting some plants around my hosue next weekend. But will make it a point to volunteer locally on that day. For sure many programs will be going around for the environment day

Linnet D Silva: The teachers will not agree. But any time that week is fine.

C K Gopala Rao: Volunteers are ready but all the trs students support us

Guru Poornima: Let us prepare and list out action plan

Initially for planting. In our respective locations: We shall interact with our suggestions finally we shall scrutinize all the points and finalise. Firstly we will have to approach for the saplings, and co ordinate between schools and NGO s

Jayalaxmi Gowda: Which school leaders would want to take that lead for their schools now.Few people from the group can represent our group and talk to Adhamya

Kollegala Sharma: Why not start nurseries in schools? Each student cares for one seedling. Excess can be given to other schools. Let students choose their favourite plant. Surely they will then care for that!

Yogish: So the 1st step is to contact Adamya and find out how many saplings they can provide right?. I guess Adamya is in Bangalore. How about supplying plants to schools that are in other districts ?

Guru Poornima: Tuesday I will meet tejaswini. S forest dept also

Before that simultaneously we have to choose the schools

Jayalaxmi Gowda: Yes schools need to be chosen before you go talk

Yogish: I guess Gururaj too is in touch with forest dept to get saplings. Let’s use all the 40 schools that we listed so far except Girish’s Mudugere school. I think respective teachers has to talk to HM or officials in advance to get permission right ?

Kollegala Sharma: First. Findout if schools have sufficient space. Some urban schools suffer from this.

Guru Poornima: That is the reason I said abt the co ordination

Yogish: I think respective school teacher can respond regarding the availability of space

Girish Mudigere: Are we increasing work load???

Guru Poornima: We shall start with rural school which is backward..and make a survey if the same

If we do it systematically nothing is burden. Planning and execution is impt that’s it

Yogish: We can take Gajanan Sir school as example (but we need more trees) if there is a space in school

Yogish: School garden will not help, we need more trees.

Girish Mudigere: With few days of available time for Schools start….lets do two things on planting :

1. Currently go ahead with whatever best you feel on planting

2. Going forward….we should utilize our energy to spread the word in different ways to promote planting everyday and safeguard

Lets act on first…..plan and work on second

Kollegala Sharma: Action plan.

1. Identify schools and find out if they have space

2. Check if saplings are availsble. Choose a plant that is easy to grow for a start. Failure at this stage is maximum demotivator for schools.

3 Assign/ volunteer responsibility for each identified school.

4. Volunteers visit school at least two times to build rapport (if teachers take responsibility, this is not necessary)

5. Supply saplings one or two days before

6. Hold sapling planting

7. Use the occasion to talk about what we at DS are planning.

For points 1 n 2, we can have a five day deadline. The rest to be as per June 5.

Gajanana. You have already filled up every space. Where else? I would sure come there once.

Yogish: Today I went to my son’s elementary school (govt school) to see the performance of students (singing of 4th graders). All parents were present at 8:30 AM. Kids are very actively performed. I wanted to share few video clips and pictures. I don’t want to interrupt our momentum of tree planting. I will post the pictures in our Facebook page soon.

Girish Mudigere: Mr Gururaj tried to message Panchappa sir to help

It appears communication is not complete

Communication seems very very important in any project

Yogish: Lets us give top priority only on tree planting project until June 5.

Rest of the project such as Notebook distribution and water filter will continue as per the earlier action plans.

Kollegala Sharma added MUST Anantha Padmanabha. Welcome Anantha Padmanabha, Science teacher, Mullur, HD Kote. June 6th programme is at Mullur

Anantha Padmanabha: Tq for adding me

Girish Mudigere: Action plan.

1. Identify schools and find out if they have space

2. Check if saplings are availsble. Choose a plant that is easy to grow for a start. Failure at this stage is maximum demotivator for schools.

3 Assign/ volunteer responsibility for each identified school.
