Mr Prasanna in response to Seenu avara rathothsava invitation- in his words:
Seenu sir if you are one the organizers or if you know them ( Rathothsava committee) request them to arrange a ten minutes program ( speech on important of edn, recognising and appreciating the better schools sorrounded the village, donating things or amount for development by committee )
Prasanna: We have to discuss only about developing our schools by creating better educative environment
Girish Mudigere: By Government to Schools. We should use facilities,
holekoppa government school tv9 nodi
100% results achieved by teaching staff in above Holekoppa Chikkamagaluru school
Girish Mudigere: As Mr Prasanna mentioned ….jaatre opportunity can be used to improve schools and motivate people
Kalgudi Naveen: http://www.freeganita.com/
Girish Mudigere: Thank you Naveen avare…..Yogish kindly see whether it can be added to website under links
Kalgudi Naveen: Book on Astrosat Released – Download the Copy http://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/article-files/book-astrosat-released-download-free-copy/astrosat-book-final.pdf
Yogish: I just checked the website. It looks good. Appears that we have to pay for the DVD’s of video lessons.
Sreeharsha Hegde: Email is best to call
Kalgudi Naveen: Minchanche is not faithful to the source
Sreeharsha Hegde:
Sreeharsha: I guess ಮಿಂಚಂಚೆ it is appropriate
First we started it with our visiting cards
Later on our writing
Being columnst in five different magazines at 2003. I made it general
I guess many among people are convinced
Kalgudi Naveen: It is wrong! Anyways I will say more about it by 8 or 9 am.
Sreeharsha Hegde:
Yogish: Not sure why don’t we teach English words too (at least for high school students) in math and science text books along with kannada words
For ex, real numbers (ವಾಸ್ತವಿಕ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ), mammals (ಸಸ್ತನಿಗಳು), etc
It will be easy for the students when they move to college if they English words for the same Kannda words which they studied in high school. Students will be easily able connect to their high school lessons in colleges too.
Text books should have for the kannada words in English too. I really had a tough time in college (especially in 11th and 12th) without knowing the meaning in Kannada for English words (especially math, science, chemistry, biology and physics)
Textbooks should have foot note
For ex, ಕಶೇರುಕಗಳು, ಅಕಶೇರುಕಗಳು. Does anyone know the English word for these?. I studied these words in high school in Kannada. Had a tough time to catch up equivalent words in English in 11th.
I think it’s up to teacher to teach equivalent English word. Some of the teachers teach English words too. I guess govt don’t want to print English word in textbooks.
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Yogish avare do we need to go through that exercise instead why not just give a link and say 8th grade science chapter 1 equivalent English words for the Kannada words
Yogish: It’s easy for students to refer if English word is available in same page of the text book where they read kannada word.
Linnet D Silva: I feel lessons which are in Kannada are also there in English for those in English medium. It’s not the material but teachers motivation which is needed.
Secondly those whose mother tongue is French or Japanese or Russian also undergo these constraints for a while.
Yogish: I think we don’t have to create a page for kannada to English. Google does it already. It would be nice if are able to bring these English words in text book itself as side note or foot note because 90% of our students are not able to access internet or google
Still we can plan to add in our website if it is really required. Someone has to help me typing these words in Google or if you know already send me the full list of kannada word and its equivalent English word w.r.t each chapters of science and math books. May be some websites are already there, may be we are not aware of that.
Raghavendra N: Yogish sir is right it will be of great help for those who take English medium science combination from PU level, really they struggle hard after passing 10th from Kannada medium. In our school we have the practice of giving synonyms in English to Kannada for scientific terminologies and maths too. It helps little bit in PU level.
Akhila Vidyasandra: Raghavendra sir, what are the instructions about copyright or copyleft in our government text books? Please read 1st page and tell us.
As for as I know except for selling purpose one can use it for the public purpose freely
If someone in this group or other friends can give the footnotes for both Kannada and English text (from 1st to 12th std) we can ask the government to print it in the text books or separately and provide them to Children.
Government is left with 2 months to print and distribute the books
Or we should ask some donors to print for this year
Kalgudi Naveen:
Panchappa: Yogish what is meant by reading and learning?
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Reading Andre odhuvudhu ( ex. pusthaka odhuvudhu)
andare – kalithu koluvudhu
Yogish: Panchappa sir, I did not understand your question. In what context this question appears?.
Panchappa: Yes it is a typical question. Whole country’s development stands on learning. Next month, in Tumakuru. There is discussion going on. It is suitable.
Jayalaxmi Gowda: https://archive.org/stream/KittelKannadaEnglishDictionary/A_Kannada_English_Dictionary_djvu.txt
Tandavmurthy: Posted IIT students daughter of Tailor 👆🏼help
Raghavendra N: Why don’t we have group contribution and help her studies?
Prasanna: N G Raghavendra sir , behalf of all the group members warm welcome to you. N G R plz introduce yourself to the group members plz.
Akhila Vidyasandra: I’ve got an idea, please see if you can implement it. especially the CRPs & BRPs have to take it up and to the development.
If we can have the evaluation of the teaching by testing the kids in a very cordial and highly sensitive way ,
(By hurting the children)
to monitor and create enthusiasm among teachers (as all the teachers are not like our teachers here ) to improve the quality of learning among the kids by improving the quality of teaching and methods of teaching.
It should be like; if A school teachers evaluate B school, B school will evaluate C and C will evaluate A. It shouldn’t be mutual.
Kalgudi Naveen: Instead is it better to urge government to conduct training programs which updates teachers on all topics?
Evaluation you are talking could lead to fights! Just in the lighter vain Teachers are under tremendous pressure. I will put a voice message tonight.
Prasanna: Department is training all the teachers every year. But implementation or monitoring the implementation couldn’t be possible .
Akhila Vidyasandra: I know Naveen and Prasanna, but I have just came across a HPS school of 200 + children with 9 teachers and the 6th grade students don’t know anything. teachers and lethargic, and giving away the answers to the students in exams.
I was really annoyed
Prasanna: Teacher should be free to teach. But in root level conditions are very critical ( no clerk in primary (1-8th) , they have to put or keep records, maintain mid day meal program, many programs, their reports should be sent time to time)
My God! Really Its shocking mam
Akhila Vidyasandra: After seeing teachers like manasatte Nagaraju, neereri Gjaanana, … the
tremendous growth with limited resources, I was wondering whether teachers are serious or not.
Keshav left. Akhila Vidyasandra: Keshav left. will thank him.
Kalgudi Naveen: And, with this background I proposed a meet.
Akhila Vidyasandra: The hope is, at least if children get educated (not literate) they may change the society. Which meet, On what issue
Kalgudi Naveen: The one planned in the first week of May.
Akhila Vidyasandra: Okay, definitely. Please have it on 2nd Saturday (if possible ) I’ll mark my calendar.
Kalgudi Naveen: Will keep this in mind. It depends on our resource person’s schedule. Will definitely make an honest attempt.
Girish Mudigere: There is a school in pimpri (Pune) by name ” City Pride School” which insists the school children to drop the left over water from water bottles in drums while leaving the school . The water collected in drums is used for watering the plants in the school premises. This practise is slowly adopted in the surrounding schools of Pimpri also……..appx the water collected in these drums is around 1 lakh litre per annum……God bless the children and school management for practising such a wonderful thought …..!
Kalgudi Naveen: One more thing can be planned. Just collect all the leftover sheets in their notebook at the year end. Rebind it and reuse or donate it to the needy. Unimaginable amount if empty paper is being thrown every year.
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Yes water and paper wastage can be avoided by the above suggestions. Infact the parents need to encourage it in the kids at home. Maneye modhala paatashaale. My kids do that everyday. They water the plants with remaining water from the bottle and put all one sided printed sheets in a box every evening, which I staple it at the end of the week for them to use for the coming week.
Teachers ge yesthu responsibility irabeku adhakintha hecchu responsibility irabeku parents ge
Akhila Vidyasandra: There are 3 very good blogs called ಜ್ಞಾನಮಿತ್ರ, ಜ್ಞಾನಲೋಕ. & English teacher. by a high school teacher called Gnaneswara T. N.
I have had a conversation with him, he also created a page in fb
Prashanth: Urgent single english scribe(1 kannada) needed for Devaraju for SSLC exam.
Exam Centre-st.Patrick’s high school 15 k brigade road
Panchappa: Most of the schools are following Whole Word Methodology(byhearting). That wont develop their knowledge. According to research it is not learning Mr Naveen. Today country is suffering from lack of teaching knowledge in teachers.
Prasanna: Many of us are only completing syllabus, we don’t bother about how far we reached. Many of us are only teaching lessons, never try the competency of the lessons. We think if a student answers to the questions is the brilliant one,but the same one fail to apply the same knowledge to his daily activities.
Panchappa: Collage lecturer blames his trainer.
Bed college Lecturer blames his lecturer. Pu Lecturer blames high school teacher. High school teacher blames higher primary teacher. Higher primary teacher blames lower primary teacher. Lower primary teacher blames parents. Who is responsible for lack of learning.
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Idhella encourage maadokke school management ready aagirbeku. Only passionate teachers should be hired, And good teachers should be rewarded to keep them motivated. it should be a collective effort
Tandavmurthy: Passing the Buck is a sort of defence mechanism, need to overcome this by collective effort
Linnet D Silva: Ajim premgi foundation did such experiments. Motivation to teachers are good but they depend on external motivators. As that stops their involvement reduces.
We have tried giving additional teachers to nalikali classes to reduce the burden of class teacher that has helped a little.
Panchappa: In Davanagere there is one govt., Hostel. I am giving free language training. For 8 th, 9th and 10th. 45 to 50 percent children are not in a position to identify Kannada aksharas properly. You tell me what about their future. It is not only one hostel. All over India we have these problems. If you want more information, just check 2014 ASER report.
Really I am suffering from this illness. I am afraiding of this. I can’t sleep well. If I remember, suddenly I will wake and start working.
Linnet D Silva: Growth and developing is human tendency. So it should be the priority in every direction and sphere.
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Linnet avare … Growth and development should be made part of ones routine to be in survival. It should not be an option to them..
Any companies you work for, they make sure you are developing and doing something beyond what you are supposed to do for salary hikes every year
So that takes them into survival mode to do beyond what is required to do
Linnet D Silva: We value gold. Aren’t children more precious and are nation’s resource. Need to have such feeling.
Girish Mudigere: Main focal point seems to be attitude of teachers
Raghavendra N: Too much of shadowing on negative makes us more demotivated, an ounce Of encouragement makes us to excel in our work
Ramachandra Shetty:
Girish Mudigere: Olle suggestion by Ramachandra Shetty Sir…..idu hege saadya?
Linnet D Silva: I understand. Gov’t department has to do justice to teachers.
Harshiya Banu:
Yogish: I too agree that subject specialist or subject wise teachers are required especially 3rd grade onwards.
Girish Mudigere: Our focus is not demanding Government for more resources now. Lets try through volunteers or other available resources to improve Government Schools
Harshiya Banu: Shall I bring here to B E O sir for dis group?
Avarannu ee gumpige kareraruva yochaneyide
Girish Mudigere: Please inform if anyone here wishes to join Core Discussion Group
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Team – it is a long due, we haven’t had a chance to meet up on the schools we were discussing

Team I am planning for a conf call this weekend. Let me know your best time of the day.. Evenings after 9 est
Not sure what others take on that
Jayalaxmi Gowda: Good video for motivation and to know the power within you. Although it is in Hindi… It is a good one. If someone could translate that is much appreciated… If not will do tonight very briefly
Girish Mudigere: Appears good step…..lets expect less negatives
