Group Discussions March 2016 – 1 of 6

Girish Mudigere: Actress Julie Lakshmi says Tamil from Mother, Telugu from Father and Kannada gave her Anna(Food)…..nice to know every language is important however it comes from…..We should adore regional language along with other languages ……regional language should be promoted

Girish Mudigere: Namasthe all…do any members in our team knows any similar NMMO doing jobs similar to ours? Kindly imform

Akhila Vidyasandra: Mr. Narayanmurthy avre, please translate from Hindi to either Kannada or English.

Akhila Vidyasandra added MUST Linnet D Silva. Please discuss issues relating to education and schools. There are other forums to discuss above issues Mr. Harishchandra avare

Dear Linnet avre, welcome, please introduce yourself to the group.

Prof B Harischandra: Since I hardly have anything to contribute to this group, please allow me to depart. I appreciate your dedication to the cause of education St school level.
Prof B Harischandra Left

Linnet D Silva: I’m linnet Silva, presently live in Dharwad, north Karnataka. Founded Deeksha a development initiative to build human rights culture. Work to ensure right to education in government school and work with school adolescents to address early marriage issue.

School development committee members training in Deeksha office Dharwad held on 26 feb
Sdmc training held on 14 March for rural schools of Dharwad block.

Raghavendra N: Linnet madam I have first query with you. One of my student of 8 aged about 15 is getting married in next month 28. she is marrying to her own brother in law. And she has no obligation in it. I persuaded her and gave counselling about early marriage. But she is help less due to her parents. I don’t have courage to face villagers by complaining to police or any other dept. What to do could you plz tell me.

Akhila Vidyasandra: Which place Sairam(Raghavendra) avare, please give details of the girl in personal message box

Girish Mudigere: Appreciate Raghavendra Sir…..good input on 15 year girl

Raghavendra N: Sir what to do, some time my mind tells what they are doing is right because of her family background. I’m fully confused in this matter. Some how I put on your shoulders

Akhila Vidyasandra: Don’t worry Raghavendra avre, you are taking a good step. be sure n firm about it

Linnet D Silva: I understand that it’s difficult to convince. The best way in such case where elders don’t cooperate is to take legal action. It will deter others at least. I have also one such case. After going to dcpu the parents have given written assurance about not doing marriage ceremony till she is 18. But this has helped others.
3/15/16, 07:30 – School Charu Shashi: Or else can take help of Karnataka State Human Rights C ommission ?

Girish Mudigere: Loss we lost Prof Harischandra…..I am not pointing to anyone responsible for losing him from group …….if we look at his points ….they are very good and most of us know. But if teachers and volunteers spread it well…few points if implemented effectively … will help school premises and society too…Isn’t it?

Planting trees, not throwing garbage, respect fellow humans are good points to be implemented in day to day life

Girish Mudigere: Team….what do you feel…..Also story by Ramachandra Shetty sir is very good…..but it is too long and may be avoided in this group
Instead of stories……action points to promote government schools, and society in general may help…..kindly avoid stories in Kannada English or Hindi

Akhila Vidyasandra: Its sad that Harishchandra avaru left. I request all to take the issues in right spirit and discuss. This is a democratic group and everyone has right to put forth their points.

Akhila Vidyasandra: Points may be very good but please restrict the discussion to the public schools and education .

I would like to suggest that we can discuss on environmental issues by having another group, whoever are interested in it can start another group.
A start little divination can take away the focus of the group. This is my suggestion.

RaviRaj: Focused posts help develop schools as the title of our group suggests

Akhila Vidyasandra: Ramachandra sir &others please avoid such stories. Though they are addressing education and compassion etc, its to motivate children to study and elders to help others.

Girish Mudigere: Here individuals including me is not important …..finally as a team we need to succeed improving government schools

Linnet D Silva: Deeksha is organizing one more sdmc training for rural government schools on 18. We have mobilized about 20 schools.

This program will be held in Kelgeri government school in Dharwad. Some schools are situated in very interior places.

Nagesh TK: Can you conduct this training in our Taluk

Linnet D Silva: Www. Deekshatrust. Org
But it is inactive for a moment. I have asked to renew it. You can see us on Facebook – Deeksha

Kiran Kumar: Can we all please dedicate this group only for the discussion on the government school improvement? Kindly cooperate.

Mahesh Gowda:

Kiran Kumar: My only contention is that it is always better to keep the goals of the group intact.

D K Ravi was a friend of mine and I have highest regards for him. Let’s have other forums to discuss on him.

Yogish: This group is mainly for development of public schools. Let’s not divert our focus by bringing non related topics

Akhila Vidyasandra: Yes please respect the group’s aim

Tandavmurthy: Such messages created and propogated by vested interests to polarise publics on emotional grounds

Akhila Vidyasandra: Yes, Ravi ‘s family gets pension and Kabir’s compensation. let us stop this discussion here as I have explained it to Mr. Mahesh. And Dadavalli ji please avoid such messages,

Girish Mudigere: Good team focus….keep up….when you have adopted or visited schools …..kindly list problems to implement ….lets discuss how we can solve

Girish Mudigere: Who was chief guest thara? Political leader…..sounds good…..definitely they may not do politics here…..sure he/she might assured some benefits to school. If yes….let’s encash for benefit of school …..please provide details.

Linnet D Silva: Local leader. He assured to provide desks and benches which is lying in his godown.

Girish Mudigere: Interesting ….but positive. Once he gives or not….lets again invite him shortly along with few kids in school

Linnet D Silva: And immediately he will give. In this school there’s no electricity. So he also said he will help out for this. He’s not a kind of person on whom we can fall back. He’s an alcoholic.

Girish Mudigere: Excellent … should organize a talk on alcohol prevention and invite him as chief guest inside or outside school ….he will become a changed person shortly ….

Can I talk to him and thank him for desks?

Linnet D Silva: When the desks are brought. The teacher has agreed to follow up.

Girish Mudigere: Whenever you feel ready….I am ready to talk anytime and appreciate

Linnet D Silva: Fine.

Linnet D Silva: Today we (Deeksha) gave prizes for composition and debate orgazed by us.

Girish Mudigere: Each kid will have some talent ….kindly try to provide prizes to all kids… may be one pencil or small comb

Kindly provide school address and more photos to Yogish sir…..he will upload in our website…..if ok for you

Linnet D Silva: I am just uploading in our face book. Deeksha trust

Linnet D Silva: Ask him to see the face book

Yogish: Please give me the address and email id of Sriramnagar school

Linnet D Silva: Government primary school Sri ramnagar,
Attikolla, Dharwad – 580007. Karnataka, India.

Linnet D Silva: I hope our school rises up qualitatively to ensure right to education. That Deeksha can withdraw teachers we have offered to fill the lack of teachers in this School.

Girish Mudigere: Sure Government has to answer ….lets help them
Yogish: Anyone from Mangalore in this group ?, because I need to contact teachers of my home school where I studied until 7th. I have plans to meet teachers in July.

Linnet D Silva: I am from udupi.

Chaya Chandra Acharya: Sir, i am also from udupi. I know tulu. But not studied in udupi.

Yogish: Learn Tulu language is added. This is just beginning. I guess now Karnataka govt added Tulu as optional language for the class 10. I guess few students took exams too during last and this year.

Yogish: I have seen this video interview earlier. In the beginning I discussed about the ‘no retention’ policy. This policy is dangerous unless the proper education or proper skills are given. Blindly pushing students to higher class or social promotion is very dangerous. Educated youths without proper education/skills are more dangerous than uneducated.

I have experience of seeing people with certificates without basic skills and totally illiterate but with great life skills.

Present system of education is bringing out misfits either for agriculture field or for globalized world.

It’s better we use the word literacy, literates instead of educated and uneducated etc.

Panchappa: Yesterday I went to my school and gave 2 hours English language training.
Linnet D Silva: Really nice!

Linnet D Silva: Once in a way to substitute that’s fine. Hige maaduvudaadare teachers badalige computer operators saaku.

Nagesh TK: No Mam, if the teacher explain student will get

Chaya Chandra Acharya: I have seen children kendriya vidyalaya where they know how to speak in english but do not know how to read english. Till 9th std do not know table 9. This is the effect of no retention policy

Chaya Chandra Acharya: Yogish sir, can u please send me the website through which i can download maths and science ,text book, work book etc

Girish Mudigere: Akhila ….I can’t see video …as I am in office ….what resources extended by central government to whom?

Akhila Vidyasandra: Focus on primary education

Girish Mudigere: Akhila ….good input….I also agree….we can’t expect more from PM or CMs , but we should get hold of these statements by any governments and ask the governance to respect it

Prashanth: Hi, checkout our newly launched website and share your views. For better display, please open in pc … Check it in system.

Girish Mudigere: Keep up good work…..lets use money given by government to schools

Yogish: Hi Chaya, there are many websites for worksheets. Most of them gives few trial sheets for free
For ex is paid one

Yogish: You can try This site appears to be free. They have free worksheet from grade 1 to 7. You can download all of them.

Abhi Gowda: Dear sir we have one major problem in our mathruboomi seva foundation team adopted school.

Akhila Vidyasandra: What problem

Abhi Gowda: Their 200 childrens are their ,our first concept in develop school we started computer education ……
Actually in day time 6 hour current will not their what to do sir

Girish Mudigere: First of all….congratulations …..lets look at solutions……………….Team….kindly suggest….. We are with you sir…..with available resources lets try solutions

Linnet D Silva: Solar support

Abhi Gowda: Dear sir we checked ups and solar the cost is more than 80 thousand so that much amount is more difficult to us…..

Akhila Vidyasandra: Dear Abhi, can anyone donate ups

Girish Mudigere: Good input….no we do not go investment direction
CSR….we can look at power supply sources……

Can we request government to supply power for few hours

Linnet D Silva: Melinda foundation and selco solar provide these facilities. You can try. We gave 34 solar lamps free in collaboration with them.

Girish Mudigere: Linnet….excellent input

I can talk and beg politicians in that area Abhi sir

Akhila Vidyasandra: Girish, its not going to work that way.

Akhila Vidyasandra: In some remote schools, they were charging the battery through solar power.

Yogish: You can try shared CPU ( discussed earlier) to reduce the UPS (kWh) size.

Abhi Gowda: Our team touck sir but no body is interest to donate ups and also no one is taking care of govt schools

Linnet D Silva: So sorry about that.

Yogish: 1 CPU with N computing device will replace 11 CPU. A saving of 1KW power. So you just need a UPS to power 1 CPU and 11 monitors instead of 11 CPU and 11 monitors

Akhila Vidyasandra: Abhi, please don’t worry, let us see what we can do
Its about 17 k it seems

Abhi Gowda: Plz try to give that shared cpu supplier no ….because no body not have idea about how to connect

Yogish: I have old N computing device with 1 PC ( core 2 duo), but in mangalore. Not sure whether it is in working condition. There could be 2 to 3 monitors too

Yogish: I can provide only in July (when I am in India) because it require routing and I need to make sure that it’s in good working condition

I will give Bangalore number. They have sales office in infantry road in Bangalore

Nagesh TK: We got 150 Ah battery and 1.5 k v invytor for 19.5k its work atlest 4hours if we run four c p u

Raghavendra N: Sir plz give the address of company which ups and battery. I too need battery and ups

Yogish: 1800-42-55-44-33 ncomputing tech support number. I got this number from Internet. Bangalore sales number is : +91-80-33050028

Please don’t buy from them unless they give full service warranty for 2 or 3 years.

Nagesh TK: Luminous sir. Battery and invertor. Including trolly sir 19.5k

Girish Mudigere: Abhi Sir……invite Bescom officials to school and honor them for power they are already supplying …..lets us see results in two weeks

Akhila Vidyasandra: What is this honoring business Girish?
They will take away that too and won’t turn back.

Akhila Vidyasandra: The only solution is to make panchayaths take up the issues n responsibilities

Abhi Gowda: Actually this problem is from government

Akhila Vidyasandra: Abhi where is your school. sorry I forgot.

Abhi Gowda: In karnataka mandya dist maddur talluk and annur school.

Girish Mudigere: Can we shift class timings

Abhi Gowda: No sir we have tried for that also but it is not matching and for school so many children will come long so they should go to home before sun set

Girish Mudigere: Good discussion ….my points seems useless… about shifting class room to government building

Girish Mudigere: If we personally contact and request…..He may provide breakfast to few needy children in his surrounding schools

Yogish: Chaya, too is good. This will generate your own math worksheet. You just have to enter the parameters to generate the pattern. This is free to use to generate your own worksheet

Not sure why India or Karnataka govt can create a website like this. It’s easy to create with built in mathematical equations. You can generate any number of patterns

Random patterns will be generated per click or per refresh of the site

Girish Mudigere: Good progress Abhi sir…..bescom engineers have taken the matter. Not certain now…..but positive so far
Abhi Sir… contact of Executive Engineer …..I am requesting his time to talk to him…..sure we get something for training classes

Akhila Vidyasandra: 👆
These are the information I have got this morning
We are planning to visit this school and see what we can do about it
Its exam time, since the portions are not finished yet, and there is no time too to finish.

Linnet D Silva: All the best. See if you can mobilize parents and ask them to take up the issue. Then there will be follow up. If you make one day noise it will not solve the problem. Work with them.

Panchappa: DDPI must through him out from the school.

Akhila Vidyasandra: The children have written that, HT (maths teacher ) used to go to his mango garden during class/school hours

Tandavmurthy: Being a incharge HM she would have administrative pressure, apart from that she has to manage her subject.cacus among staff and sdmc had a significant role in this issue, only a teacher can understand.

Chandrakant Acharya:

Akhila Vidyasandra: I know murthy yavare, sometimes teachers need to comeout with these problems, so that the parents and other stakeholders take care of such problems. Or else students suffer for no fault of them.
Sometimes teachers paid less than supposed to be paid. And they indulge in other money making work /activities. Sometimes heavy protocol duty .
Sometimes non cooperation etc. Your union should bring this up with public and seek support.
Demand an office assistant. either from Panchayath or from department.

Raghavendra N: I agree with all above comments, but the scenario of today’s schools is not like that. In government schools there is full office work due to many incentive programmes by state and center, now all of us know govt need records. We are stressed more to give records to dept. All along with this mid day meals supervision, milk distribution, sdmc maintenance, parents, teachers, society. ALL THOGH ITS OUR ABUNDENT DUTY TO TEACH STUDENTS,WE SHOULD NOT ESCAPE FROM IT. BUT GOVT SHOULD PROVIDE TEACHERS ALONG WITH HEAD TEACHER AND A CLERICAL STAFF TOO.
Akhila Vidyasandra: Today’s budget, 13000 crs for village development. Our schools can be developed. Primary and secondary education department got 17373crs

Girish Mudigere: Multiple points discussed….nice ……multiple reasons for same problem ….good….few solutions are also appear good…..lets try our best now…..sure these problems repeat in many schools next year too.

Lets try concrete solutions

Girish Mudigere: Thank you team.. Nice attempts….negative attitude seems to be root cause for above problems and good solutions also due to positive attitudes

Lets focus on attacking attitude positively

Prasanna: in Shivamogga dist a competition( English mela) regarding English organised at cluster level for the students who for the students who selected in their school
