Kollegala Sharma: Thanks

Girish Mudigere: 👍😊🙏

Hemanth Sharma added MUST Krishnamurthy

Girish Mudigere: Excellent progress

Hemanth Sharma: I support u r idea. Some of the words used in science text books r so difficult. I find so difficult to teach.Let’s continue here

Girish Mudigere: 👍😊

Hemanth Sharma: My view: long back I had a professor he was very sure that as far as possible read from original books not translated one it can not retain its purity..and I really found it correct… Surprisingly it is correct for technical books too another reason to open up for English education as soon as possible… Fluency is not necessary understanding is.

Kollegala Sharma: I have been involved in National Translation Mission as a resource person on translating Science and Technology texts. NTM conducts workshops for translators across India. What I have found is that generally 18/20 participants are poor in English. And they want to be translators! Hemanth was right that Bhashabharathi.org could be biased. Chaya maam agrees with me that the texts for Kannada and Kannada-Science texts are so different that students find it difficult to relate scientific concepts to daily life. Rote learning takes over. That is how I got interested in teaching languages. I found Kannada skills also poor. We need to address this urgently. Medium is not the issue. Learning a language is.

Hemanth Sharma added +91 8  ……….👍

Hemanth Sharma added  Rajesh

We have seen Praksh Anchan school progress – enrollment from 23 it went up to 250 +

We have seen seegala halli govt school now – enrollment went up from 46 to 318

And few more

I am sure all of u noticed one common thing for the development of the above 2 schools. It was public demand, it was parent demand. We have to provide the academics or curriculum that parents/students are demanding. Not something it’s decided by government and is no use for students to compete in global level. Tomorrow if there are more jobs or career growth in China or Russia we have to prepare our children to compete there too, academically, technically and language skills. We can continue here…

Yogish: Thank you Hemanth 🙏

Hemanth Sharma: 👍🙏

Mohammed Syed: India will be late by 50 years in achieving education goals: UNESCO –

http://in.element14.com/raspberry-pi/raspberrypi-sensehat/add-on-board-sense-hat-for-raspberry/dp/2483095?CMP=e-email-121115-Rpi&ost=Raspberry+Pi+Sense+HAT

Iam not sure which module Kiran is planning

Hemanth Sharma: No issue in getting raspberry pi in sp road there are plenty of shops providing it I got it from vishal electronics. This is extension of pi board…first we need board after that we can talk about other module

Krishnamurthy: Hemanth – we have to be very choosy in picking the right module suitable for fitting to the experiments useful for explaining the concept to children

Yogish added  Mohammed Syed

Yogish added  Jyothi

Hemanth Sharma: As I repeat first is basic then module…Let’s confirm with kiran

Yogish added MUST GI RaviRaj

Mohammed Ghouse: Just to be sure , do we need to buy raspberry PI for attending 24 Sep event ?

Yogish: You can use your smart phone charger

Hemanth Sharma: I did the same but still we need it

Krishnamurthy: May be baord power requirements are higher wattage compared to smart phone battery charger capacity

Hemanth Sharma: Yes it must have 2amp current capacity so fast charger may work other may not.OK thanks.I suggest to buy kit than only the board it will really be helpful

Jyothi: Ok

Krishnamurthy: http://itebooks.zone/1449365221.html –Raspberry Pi 3 cook book by Simon monk

+91 7 ………: Let’s not encourage Piracy. Rs 300 you get kindle version I encourage you to go for it. 700 is hard copy

Jyothi: 👍🏼 for discouraging piracy

Gururaj Paramesha: First b4 we buy Rasberry PI kit lets attend 24th workshop based on that individuals can decide on purchase it.. I request those who have already kit plz bring it on 24th..

Jyothi: Oh ok done

+91 77  ….: @Guru can I suggest one Skype voice conference to clear all technical doubts

Gururaj Paramesha: Sure why not…

+91 7 ……: ಶುಭಸ್ಯ ಶೀಘ್ರo

Gururaj Paramesha: Since many are new to technology side may not be as quick we think I suggest 24th workshop should be intro with basic modules of Raspberry PI.We can have call tomorrow evening since its Bandh many will be at home

Mohammed Syed: I already have a raspberry pi 3 device at home. It’s a low powered Linux based system.

Low powered is sufficient fir home use.  If gaming is not an requirement.

https://pimylifeup.com/

Is a good site which has some projects listed.

As of now I have deployed raspberry pi as a torrent download machine. It is not as easy as windows.

People who are used to windows “will” find it difficult to execute command line options.

It’s a steeper learning curve.  People who are curious enough to take troubleshooting challenge will find raspberry interesting.

Raspberry pi has to be bought in pieces or as a Kit.

1: raspberry pi 3 Model B 2900₹

2: raspberry pi casing 400₹

3: A good 2.1 Ampere Android mobile charger 500₹.  Avoid using low amperage chargers.

4: HDMI cable 500₹

5: wireless keyboard and mouse 800₹

6: 16 GB MicroSD card 500₹.  On which the Raspbian Operating system has to be installed by self using some computer and SD card reader

Please note that raspberry pi 3 has inbuilt wifi and bluetooth receiver.

People who have raspberry pi 2 would need to buy a wireless dongle for 400₹.

Hence, the final approximate cost of raspberry pi 3 goes to 4500₹

Please note that it is very much possible to use a wired keyboard and mouse.

Minimum 8GB of SD memory to install OS and store some data.   16GB is good to have and is better.

One of my friend responded from Pune

+91 7 …….: Good to see community learning in action

Krishnamurthy: May I how we can make use of this kit in the context of DS objectives??

+91 7  ……..: 24 workshop is for this purpose only

Gururaj Paramesha: It will help children in programming skills especially if we provide these kits to government school children n train them on this..they learn fundamentals of programming.. n also on basic electronics circuit building..m.Tomorrow v can plan

+91 7 ……….: Sure my Skype I’d is ngk_skype

Gururaj Paramesha: 7pm v can organise tomorrow. .. group call..I think Yogish or one of ua can lead the call..

Yogish: Wired keyboard is better

Narasimha Prabhu: I spoke to Obalappa, HM, Annasandrapalya GLPS, he has agreed to provide the place for workshop. What else is required, let me know, I will speak to them

+91 7 ……..: Just power socket. Drinking water for participants rest I will bring.

Narasimha Prabhu: Oh great, I will inform Obalappa.

Yogish: Thank you Prabhu 🙏
