Panchappa: I request you to suggest that student to Samveda Training and Research Centre.

Kollegala Sharma: Can you provide address please?

Hemanth Sharma: Can you check http://www.davismethod.org/?s=&category=267&location=422&a=true

Someone Priti Venkatesan Of Lalaji Memorial Omega Int’l School Chennai specializes in training or identifying kids with learning difficulties

Krishnamurthy: Many kids can’t afford to enter special schools like above , anybody aware of Government initiatives to open schools for children with such disabilities??

Hemanth Sharma: No, it is for seeking solution not sending them to these schools. Let’s collect information first, probably we will get some connecting link/ group like us not a govt. Body nor commercial entity. Let’s be optimistic and should seek any help possible

Kollegala Sharma: Right now I am planning to encourage the student to write poems to practice writing, compose poems read out to him and create a peer group to sit with him and read stories and lessons.  Hope this will erase the fear slowly.  The difficult part is in creating a peer group without mentioning the purpose.  Wish this can be done with the help of teachers.

Another difficult part is to insulate him from experiences that reinforce his behaviour.  In the classroom this can be handled, but outside, it is difficult.

Panchappa: If he is not in a position to identify the aksharas, how can you tell him to read poems. Is it possible? My experience, it’s difficult. Think before doing that.

Don’t think about letters, first concentrate on mother tongue.Byheart is dangerous.

Guru Poornima: Poems are not meant to read and write and by heart.

Poems for children to enjoy and learn through actions and facial expressions,as a result child learns and  it will be long lasting in the memory

Irrespective of any language, here language is not important learning and teaching, thorough enjoyment matters a lot.

Kollegala Sharma: Not making him to read. But to slowly lead there. Create a need. Interest and provide support.Want to start with what he enjoys most. The songs.I am aware that I may not succeed, but that I just want to try.

Guru Poornima: Exactly, we should not impose the child to learn rather we must create the comfortable atmosphere. If the child is not mentally challenged without abnormalities highly possible.

For mentally challenged we will have to  adapt difft methods.

Kollegala Sharma: Not mentally challenged. Quite communicative. Physically fit.

Guru Poornima: Highly possible Sir. He might be the slow learner due to difft factors

Kollegala Sharma: I will not even mention mentally challenged and autistics. They need different methods.

Guru Poornima: True🙏I agree

Panchappa: You speak with his parents about his birth and how he grew up. You send that information. Then I will send you some information. Through Wattsapp or courier.

Kollegala Sharma: Either this or a childhood trauma associated with schooling (not necessarily at school, could have happened at home too) is my guess. Need more interaction to get into his psyche.

Guru Poornima: Yes,domestic environment matters a lot

Kollegala Sharma: Thanks. I can visit the school only next month. Have scheduled programmes at other schools. Will talk to teachers and get details.

Panchappa: Please suggest him to AIISH, All India Institute of Speach and hearing. They will assess him in all sectors like, hearing, speech intelligence. It is very important. These are my suggestions.Tell me the place of that child.

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. Will try but have not much hope from his parents’ side.

Guru Poornima: I think he s not physically impaired

Kollegala Sharma: Katte Hunasur school.

Panchappa: Is it Hunasuru taluk?

Kollegala Sharma: H D Kote

Hemanth Sharma: I too believe the same. He is good in music.so both hearing and speaking is good.

Panchappa: Dear madam, we want the intelligence of that child. After that we will discuss.

Kollegala Sharma: He is physically OK. All my conversations with him happened in whispers and my hearing at this age is a bit low😀

Guru Poornima: When the person physically and mentally fit, obviously he is I Q level is more and normal

Krishnamurthy: Since the child is from Mysore side he can be connected to Govt operated speech & hearing inst & research centre , child could be connected there

Hemanth Sharma: I am hearing impaired… so I know something abt hearing and speech therapy… It do not effect reading and writing

Kollegala Sharma: My idea of discussing the boy here was to see if we can have a programme of identifying such kids in schools and organize a pan-Karnataka action with a group of select, trained volunteers. Possible and plausible dilemma.

Panchappa: If there is any clinical center in Hassan district, please check it and suggest him to go there.

Kollegala Sharma: Yes.  I agree. It might slow learning a bit, but not fully.Sir. I am from Mysore and stay next to it. 😊

My present plans are to see if other 5 schools too have such kids in 8th standard. Then discuss with teachers of schools and draw up a common programme. Teacher’s engagement in this is absolute necessity.

Guru Poornima: I personally feel this particular child does not need any clinical help.

Kollegala Sharma: That is my feeling too.

Guru Poornima: With proper counselling with concerned Teachers and parents and of course the child is more than enough .

Sharma Sir, must have done preliminary counselling , I guess

+91 9 ………………: Same 2 kids found in koppal district but they are studying in 4,5 th STD but they don’t interested to read r write school hw.but always play out side this effect turned to parents frustrating their activities plz guide us how to help them as a normal teacher

+91 9 : Hi Yogesh sir plz tell me the separate price for laptop n pc

Yogish: Price of PC with monitor will cross Rs 20000. Laptop will be more than 30K. This is my rough estimation.

Guru Poornima: Yes, we can find such children with hyper activities, and positively there are cases, where they change drastically after the puberty level and perform very well academically

Solution is parents are the best Doctors and counsellors, we must counsel the parents, not to get frustrated and to be positive and confident …with their children …and to avoid comparison with the peer group wh us very much essential.

Dr MD Shivraja: Am posting interesting real story..Plze go through

13 yrs boy son of illetrate PARENTS presented to me during busy OPD hrs with history of Recurrent episodes of severe headache..Recurrent episodes of severe abdominal pain.Recurrent episodes of Giddiness.Recurrent episodes of sudden speech loss since 6 months

But no cause is find out!!.His symptoms continued till date without any relief.😊

He has been admitted to several hospital and investigated thourghly by reputed medical college( s)!!

By Detailed counseling involving parents and school teacher….I found some interesting facts😊

All his illness episodes were during school hrs only!! None on Sunday and holidays😊

On analysis…His IQ were 1.mathematical IQ 40.2.linguistic IQ *50 for all languages!.interesting and intrapersonel IQ 80.Wondered how he is passed till 7 th!!He is below average kid as per his class teachers.PARENTS being illiterate not bothers..( They are PAY-Rents)..paid some rent( fees) and forgotten😊

As a learning disabilities counseller….I asked PARENTS to bring him on Sunday for bit detailed analysis

Now story will take twist..and it’s really amazing. All schools teachers and educationist should read further👇🏾

We analysed him first for his Dominance…( Mean Rt.brain or left brain dominance) by series of questions…He turns out be Rt brain dominant.( Rt.brain dominance are usually CREATIVE.left brain dominance are usually ANALYTICAL)

I took personal interest and asked him about areas of interest…( what he love to do)…He took some time and told his INTEREST.We NURTURED his INTEREST….YOY all won’t believe it…with in Spanish of 6 months…He showed what he actually is to this world👇🏾

Am padiatrician and learning disabilities counsellor

Guru Poornima: In exceptional cases do you agree with child’s pretention?

Dr MD Shivraja: Very much mam

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. There are many. Even private schools. One instance that happened in the school my wife was working. A 8th standard student was a regular defaulter in hw. Behaviour being normal, all teachers complained about his disinterest. My wife heard other teachers complaints and closely observed the child. He was dyslexic. She called his parents, counselled them and asked him to be taken to AIISH that KM referred above. Now there is a sea change in both parents, child and teachers.

Kollegala Sharma: I agree with Shivraj sir that we need to target the right learning competencies ti get them interested. It is exhilarating that a simple info posted here elicited responses that provide insights into the causes, suggestions on diagnosis, possible solutions and useful resources. Great help.
