Core:

Rajesh: Good Morning!!!Friends!! In a Government School I work with, we are experiencing children coming drunk and having habits of smoking!!( root cause we know ). Need a solution to attend to this!!!

+91 7 …….: Report to nearest police station or send me the details with address

Rajesh: Brother, informing Police is not the solution I am looking.   Children if Councelled stop coming to school!!!

Girish Mudigere: Good discussion…. Lets go forward

Yogish: Edx is started by Anant Agarwal.

He is born in Mangalore, he did his schooling in St. Aloysius Mangalore. Agarwal holds a bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

This is very good resource for the study materials. Anyone can create an account and login and then start any programming course, language course or hardware course for free. I think you have to pay only if you need certification.

Of course you need Internet connection in school to introduce to children.

Go to Edx.org to know more

Those who studied or did primary education in India are doing wonders by working hard abroad.

They are becoming leaders in education portals. Unfortunately we still struggle to give quality education in our primary schools.

+91 98  ………: Nice sir

RaviRaj: Nice to hear ….India has got talent👌😊

Girish Mudigere: Lets bring all such people together

RaviRaj: Plz go through yesterday’s editorial in prajavani ….regarding pathetic condition of primary schools in karnataka

Adarsh : Nice 👍

Yogish: Some of the stars of Indian origins in America

  1. Anant Agarwal – EDX CEO
  2. Sundar Pichai – Google CEO
  3. Satya Nadella – Microsoft CEO
  4. Rajiv Soori – CEO of Nokia
  5. Indra Nooyi – CEO of Pepsi
  6. Vikram Pandit – was CEO of Citibank
  7. Amar Bose – Founder of Bose ( He is no more)

Girish Mudigere: Lets try contact details…… I will also try to talk

RaviRaj: Yes….need of the hour

Yogish: https://www.edx.org/about/leadership

Nagesh TK:

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏 .Try all methods  through residents too……i am 100% sure you will get it……nice planning ….keep up sir

Try write to department and panchayath also asking rooms. Can anyone help to draft a letter please…. If necessary.Harshiya madam.this is for government schools group. Please avoid

Kollegala Sharma: Please see lesson 7.

Sulochana: This group is only for improvement govt schools not for old lesson images. To pradeep pattanshetto

Girish Mudigere: Lets focus on improvement of GS…….like breakfast to kids,  toilets……. Building good morality etc to start rather than lessons please

Rakesh Gowda: We shall form a another group for teaching info …it ll be helpful to teachers to improve knowledge and communicate with childrens

Kollegala Sharma: Probably that would be better.  I just respond to posts that appear but am confused with so many Develop Schools… groups.

Tharanath: 👍👍

Girish Mudigere: This was started and closed Sir.There was no much discussion later

Rakesh Gowda: Let it be silent only.If anybody wants to post teaching related info let them post there …not here

Arun: Dear All just posting images or forwarded msg or downloaded pdf will not help to reach our goal..

Let’s focus on DS with one mind to work together with the views on the mentors shared on the discussions held pls hold ourselves from any kind of forwards..

Humble Request 🙏

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Kalgudi Naveen: May be like resources to teachers, which may go into our dsweb under resources

Girish Mudigere: http://developschools.org/resource-center/

Team is it worth starting a new group for society through NMMO concept……DS Develop Society?

HM Sunitha: No

Girish Mudigere: 👍🙏Team is it worth starting a new group for society through NMMO concept……DS Develop Society? Or DSS Develop Schools Society NMMO

Rakesh Gowda: Lets focous on one concept .Implement of govt school

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏. However I started NMMO concept for one small area in Bengaluru East…..let us see how it works. However I started implenting NMMO concept for one small area in Bengaluru East…..let us see how it works

+91 94  ………..: Can something be worked out for reducing this heavy weight on kids……..

Girish Mudigere: Good question. But better avoid above forward……lets discuss on bag size though

+91 94 ……..: Sorry,,,,,a thought came to me only after reading it.😊👍🙏

Girish Mudigere: Above forward is relevant

Arun: No images pls it gets downloaded and device become slow

Girish Mudigere: But lets avoid flat forward. Images better we avoid

Yogish: http://developschools.org/projects/events/workshop-on-creative-computing-using-scratch-on-raspberry-pi

Girish Mudigere: V v true

Yogish: Please register if you want to learn 👆

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Hemanth Sharma: This is disputed, he clarified he didn’t say anything like that.

ISRO Ramesh: #Paralympics #Gold winner M Thangavelu.

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

+91 94  ………..: GOvt schools in all districts except mandya will be working from tomorrow,,,,,,only proivate schools association secrestary has declared holiday for private schhols and college in the intrest of students only for 14th

Girish Mudigere: Madam…is it by mistake….. Kindly avoid

Coordinator:

Girish Mudigere: Team is it worth starting a new group for society through NMMO concept……DS Develop Society? Or DSS Develop Schools Society NMMO

Hemanth Sharma: I am unable to get you sir

Girish Mudigere: I will explain next meeting?

Hemanth Sharma: OK

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

+91 87  ………….: 😃🙏👍👏 🙏

Sep 3 Murali: Are we registering as a society

Girish Mudigere: Beda ansutte Dr

Kollegala Sharma: Not so soon, if you ask me.

Girish Mudigere: Without hierarchy we cant register…….we never want hierarchy

3 Murali: 👍Why another group?

Girish Mudigere: Groups are only for topics Dr.Like academics…… Etc etc

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. Groups can focus on solutions for specific problems. The core can discuss on action on field.

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏: We are growing tremendously!!!

Murali: 👏

Yogish: Please don’t add me in to any new group. I am ready to be in any group to help and coordinate if there are some activities.

Kollegala Sharma: Omnipresent😀

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍😂🙏

Yogish: Sorry, I don’t have a quality of being everywhere. Please send me message or email if there is lot of activities.

Kollegala Sharma: 😀

Murali: What’s app groups may not be an efficient way. We need to seriously plan for a platform with a discussion forum.U may be familiar with trello.Check out Trello.I believe we can use it

Yogish: Discussion forum like Bbpress phBb etc was integrated earlier in our website. then we had to close that due to lack of interest or volunteers are not familiar

Once we have plenty of contents or volunteers for DSS we can start a separate website or separate website for each school or community

Murali: We will have to invite volunteers to register in the site and follow up on discussion. I am not familiar with phbp but trello sends u an email of every conversation in the sub Gp that u are in.

Yogish: Above 2 menus are newly created to add the contents for these 2 schools. This topic is nothing to do with creating separate group

Kollegala Sharma: I find this comfortable. But a different platfirm is required where concrete longterm planning, resource n responsibility planning can be chalked out.

Murali: Okay

Kollegala Sharma: Will check out trello

Yogish: I have a plan to create website for my Kodikal school, but now. First we have to do lot of work there to improve the school. Then I will plan to create a dedicated site for the school. Until then it will be part of DS.

Kollegala Sharma: Yogish. Let us set up a language lab there for any language. I will join hands with you.

Yogish: 👍

Murali: Have u heard of duolingo

Yogish: Just tried trello. You can’t add members based on their number. Looks like you need their email id. This is not going to be user friendly  especially who are using whatsup. Whatsup is popular because of its simplicity.Whatsup should add forum and group calling too.

Murali: Yes, it works on email. I thought, interested people can register through email and download the app. The will show notification when there is a message and we can reply Thro the app

Duolingo is a nice language Learning app

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. But what I am thinking of is a comprehensive practical learning. Language teaching is pretty difficult in tribal schools and in schools like Kodikal where mother tongue is Tulu or other dialect. A lab can help.

Murali: It has around 5 western languages. No Indian languages. But it’s very nice, may be useful

Okay.True

Yogish: 👏👍

Kollegala Sharma: 24th Workshop is a preparation for that.

Yogish: So far 24 volunteers enrolled for sept 24 workshop. If anyone interested please enroll by going to

http://developschools.org/projects/event

Keep checking our event page regularly for any new event

Girish Mudigere: Omg…i read tomorrow….. Keep up excellent team work

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Kalgudi Naveen: 🙏🏽💐👍

DS edu and health discuss

Kollegala Sharma: Nature (8.9.2016) carries an article on “How to raise a genius?”.  I shall share it once I receive the hard copy.  However, here is a box appearing in the article that features a 25 study of child geniuses.  The box has some tips for us to discuss.  Nurturing a Talented Child

“Setting out to raise a genius is the last thing we’d advise any parent to do,” says Camilla Benbow, dean of education and human development at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. That goal, she says, “can lead to all sorts of social and emotional problems”. Benbow and other talent-development researchers offer the following tips to encourage both achievement and happiness for smart children.

  • Expose children to diverse experiences.
  • When a child exhibits strong interests or talents, provide opportunities to develop them.
  • Support both intellectual and emotional needs.
  • Help children to develop a ‘growth mindset’ by praising effort, not ability.
  • Encourage children to take intellectual risks and to be open to failures that help them learn.
  • Beware of labels: being identified as gifted can be an emotional burden.
  • Work with teachers to meet your child’s needs. Smart students often need more-challenging material, extra support or the freedom to learn at their own pace.
  • Have your child’s abilities tested. This can support a parent’s arguments for more-advanced work, and can reveal issues such as dyslexia, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, or social and emotional challenges.

Kollegala Sharma: How about a discussion on this!

Hemanth Sharma: I am OK with first few and personally avoid any expectations from my kid. I sincerely believe in providing opportunities to kids wherever possible but I really don’t know if there is way to test kids that can test the ability as stated above. Also what you will do if you know he outstanding/underperforming you have to encourage effort not abilities

Kollegala Sharma: Yes.  It is difficult. We all believe that our wards are the best in the world as they believe that my papa is the best. We need to provide opportunities.  There is no way to know if the child is under-performing or if he lacks competency.  One thing that I have seen is that whenever a challenge in the area of their interest is thrown at them, children respond and give their best.

Girish Mudigere: This is important Sir…. Many cannot donate

Kollegala Sharma: Although the article deals with what we call Genius children, I would like to consider every child (unless he/she has deficient intellegence), as a probable genius.

Hemanth Sharma: I too believe the same… the least we can do is not to judge

Kollegala Sharma: And help them identify and strengthen their competencies. We need not teach. They will learn. But identifying competencies is the most difficult part in a classroom. It is here that parents should help and partner. I and you may be fortunate parents who understand this and help teachers. In government schools, both urban and rural schools, this is a critical issue.

Hemanth Sharma: agree

Kollegala Sharma: Once teachers get to know competencies, DS or others can pitch in to provide resources.

Rakesh Gowda added Core Yogish, MUST Dr MD Shivraja, MUST Harshiya Bhanu, MUST Tharanath, NGO Pratibimba Trust, +91 78293 65481, +91 97316 99449, +91 99000 81916

Girish Mudigere: 👍🙏

Hemanth Sharma: I believe it to be other way around… first you need to provide opportunities (especially in govt. school), competencies can be seen only after that. DS is doing that say by giving opportunity to learn pi3 we can generate more such opportunities and then find competency

Kollegala Sharma: True. This is when you have a DS. I talked about things in its absence.

Hemanth Sharma: 👍

Tharanath: You told the two groups to merge, but edu group looks separate. Is edu group independent now?

Rakesh Gowda: All are added here….this belongs to education info only …

Girish Mudigere: Kindly delete other group

Tharanath: Totally confusing, sir

Girish Mudigere: Kindly wait Sir

Tharanath: I added one friend of mine to the DGS teaching Info, but now you created different..

Girish Mudigere: Rakesh sir will help

Hemanth Sharma: Let me clarify, this group is for any policy discussion for academic improvement. The other group is coordination among the DS team. The reason why this gp is created is to avoid heated discussion in coordination gp that may not be desired by all. This was the reason members consent was asked before adding.

Hemanth Sharma: Sorry I am not aware of DGS teaching Gp.If there need to some discuss on teaching materials sharing I suggest keeping that gp

Tharanath: Sir, please think, what is the need of keeping health and edu groups in one? Edu Info group is one that all teachers require. Education policy and related issues can be discussed in this group.

Please add more teacher members to DGS teaching Info group. Please don’t suggest to delete the DGS teaching Info group.

Rakesh Gowda: I came out from that  group

Tharanath: Policy matter discussion is not important for teachers

Rakesh Gowda: Sorry for incontinence .People can post forward and any teaching related info here, this “DS edu …” be for discussion of policy matters

Sept 24th Training:

Yogish: I am going to order the following kit soon  to start hardware projects.

Yogish: It’s scary too. What if somebody hack in to home automation?. Internet security is must

+91 77  ……..: It is big biz for people who are giving security solutions in IoT world.Right time to get there

nodered.org is pre installed in raspberry Pi it is helpful in creating IoT use cases for real world..we have built POCs in retail world and shown to our customers.

Yogish: Yes, first we need to learn to hack before getting in to security solutions 😉

+91 7  …….: 24th Sept is that day 😉

Yogish: May be 24 sept is too early for our volunteers. I think some of our volunteers will get there after few months if they come with you to schools for future workshops

Kollegala Sharma: Are you two discussing science fiction😉

+91 7  ………: 😉 Sure there is no hurry

Kollegala Sharma: For a person having just software (softest ware, just the brain) this dialogue is just  bit hard but interesting.  Looking forward to 24th

He is in USA.Kindly help Yogish and team with website and coordinating work please

Thank you Abinash…each small help makes it big for our project.Welcome again

HM Sunitha: Welcome

Krishnamurthy: Welcome Abinash ,This is Krishnamurthy from Database team

Yogish: Welcome Abinash 🙏

Girish Mudigere: Abinash can you help in website related work or old students data?

Kindly give your email ID

Abinash: Yes I am help . I do not have technical idea about web design or any coding language

Girish Mudigere: Kindly visit www.mangalorelink.com/school

Abinash : My email aacharya@ltu.edu

Girish Mudigere: I sent a test email

Abinash: Got your email.

Girish BSNL: 🙂🙏

Abinash : How can I help with the website?Or any related other works

Girish Mudigere: I sent an email with others in team

Can you start a new website Sir? This is for Jeevanbhimanagar area 40 schools similar to above website

Abinash : Yes sir. I need more information.

Girish Mudigere: I tried calling…..     Kindly call me anytime before two hours now or after 10 hours

Abinash : I can call in an hour sir. Will have lunch break

9/13/16, 21:02 – Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Yogish: Girish, instead of creating new website it’s better to create a sub domain

Girish Mudigere: Awesome

Yogish: Please choose a name for your site

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏–Develop Schools Society JBN. DSS Jeevanbhimanagara?

Abinash : I am sorry , can I please have others name, only Girishji ‘s name i have saved

Yogish: Or we can create a new directory with dedicated page for DSS.This is Yogish. I live in Cupertino California

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Abinash : Hi Yogish.I like idea of one website, and use different sub domain

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Yogish: DSS_JBN.mangalorelink.com/school

Girish Mudigere: 👍🙏

Abinash: I will have an idea of what we are looking for once I talk to Girishji

Yogish: At present let’s create a main menu named ‘Our Schools’ or Our DSS Community’

Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Yogish: Then we can create sub menu named DSS JBN,  Kodikal School etc

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏

Yogish: We can put all the contents related to JBN under DSS JBN instead of sub domain or separate website

Girish Mudigere: Awesome idea

Yogish: Because maintaining  separate website is lot of work. Maintaining sub domain is also lot of work, but less compared to maintain separate work. Maintaining a separate menu is easy in the same website

Girish Mudigere: 👍🙏

Yogish: We can always create new website when there are too many contents or updates for DSS JBN

Girish Mudigere: Yes

Yogish: Exporting the relevant contents of JBN from parent site to separate website is very easy when we are ready.I will create a menu now in 10 mins. You can check

Girish Mudigere: Awesome

Abinash: Yes unless we really need a separate thread, having a same website and using different menu is easy

Easy for visitors too

Girish Mudigere: Excellent. One more question

One more team…….NGO wants website……can you help……they are not part of DS

Abinash: Yes sure i can . I my self can not develop it but can find someone and get this work done

Yogish: Girish, Please check the menu now

Girish Mudigere: I will

Yogish: We can keep adding the topic or discussion  in ‘Jeevan Bhima Nagar’  category.

Send me one topic or discussion now for Jeevan Bhima Nagar

Girish Mudigere: In cell i am not able to see

Yogish: IMG-20160913-WA0006.jpg (file attached)

Girish Mudigere: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1754559721470246/

Can above FB group be added as link

Abinash : I see under project tab there are some event links. When I first opened website i wanted to see what is this group is up to. Should not it easier for a visitor to find DS under projects

Just my thoughts, I may be missing something. Girish Ji will call you in few mins

Girish Mudigere: 👍🙏

Yogish: Projects is belongs to entire develop schoolThere will be separate entity like Kodikal school or JBN school

Girish Mudigere: Small text for JBN [9/8, 19:46] ‪+91 94496 13552‬: Prabhavati madam is the Headmistress of Govt higher primary school,Nagavarapalya,Jeevanbheemanagar cluster,Rukmini madam is the senior madam, yallava is active first standard teacher,we are all happy to join the group, please help us in our school developmental activities,Thanking you

Excellent madam…we will bring few engineers shortly to interact with you from my office

Yogish: <Media omitted>

Abinash : Looks 👍🏻

Yogish: Once we have plenty of contents or volunteers for DSS we can start a separate website or separate website for each school or community

Abinash : 👍🏻

Yogish: Thank you Girish and Abhinash for your quick feedback.

Girish Mudigere: 😊👍🙏 I am able to see now
